The Empire State is celebrating College Completion Day today. It's a statewide initiative of SUNY community colleges.
Schools like MVCC and HCCC in Central New York were encouraging all students to complete their associate's degree.
President of MVCC's Honor Society wants students to know there are greater opportunities for transfers, scholarships and jobs after graduation.
"After I completed high school I didn't want to go to school. I reached a point in my life and told myself I needed a college degree to get higher and higher. And, so I decided to come back to school hopefully to get my PhD someday," explained Carlos Pulquerio, MVCC's Honor Society President.
MVCC also announced a new scholarship program to help people who left college to return and finish their associates degree.
