The cold weather is here and so is the flu. 5% to 20% of the country's population gets the flu and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized for flu-related complications each year. Some Oneida County businesses are reminding residents that flu season is upon us.

Chanatry's Supermarket held a flu clinic this afternoon encouraging residents to take steps now to protect themselves from the flu.

"I came in shopping to Chanatry's this afternoon and saw they were giving out flu shots and I thought well this is great, I'll get it now and I won't have to worry about. So many people don't do it and then they get sick. I've always had the shots, I don't wanna get sick," says Gwen Mancini, Utica resident.

Chanatry's says more than 25 people got their flu shots this afternoon. And the Oneida County Health Department says they will be offering flu shots at their Utica Clinic every Friday in October.
