Three School Merger Fails by 172 Votes

The proposed merger of the Herkimer, Ilion and Mohawk School
Districts failed Thursday night, by 172 votes.
In order for the merger of the three school districts to happen, voters in all three districts had to vote in favor of the plan. Ilion and Mohawk voted in favor of the merger, but Herkimer unhinged the proposal.
Here's a breakdown of the unofficial numbers:
Herkimer: 1174 - In Favor
1374 - Opposed
Ilion: 1260 - In Favor
788 - Opposed
Herkimer: 1174 - In Favor
1346 - Opposed
