Attendees took part in gift basket raffles, and all proceeds raised went to the Susan G. Komen Foundation For The Cure. Event organizers say breast cancer hits close to home to many community members.
"I think we all know somebody who has had a form of breast cancer unfortunately. And so if I can touch even 1 person to go get a mammogram, or help them fight the fight, that's what we're looking to achieve here," says Patti DeCarr, event organizer.
City employees and area businesses donated more than 50 baskets to the luncheon. And nearly 250 people came out to support breast cancer awareness.
