You may have noticed sewer construction in your area this past month.
That's because there has been ongoing sewer rehabilitation work in
Oneida County. It been throughout parts of Whitesboro, New Hartford, New
York Mills, and Oriskany.
Insituform Technologies has been installing new piping that minimizes water infiltration without the need for digging, which officials say is cost and time efficient.
"We already did about 400 feet and its 10 in the morning and we're already done. I mean if they had to dig up 400 feet, you're probably talking a week. Today we'll probably do 900 feet of pipe in 1 day and it causes less inconvenience for the homeowners," says Jose Anidno, Superintendent of Insituform Technologies.
Work on individual lines lasts about 8 hours. During this time, residents are asked to refrain from using water. Work in New Hartford should be wrapped up by the end of the week. Crews will be working in Whitestown through next month.
