Updated: December 13, 2012
One area organization is making sure businesses are honored for their conservation efforts. The 11th Annual Sinnott Conservation Award was presented to the Oneida Herkimer Solid Waste Authority this morning.

Presenters were given a tour of the recycling center following the ceremony and they say this award is meant for every employee at the authority.

"The unsung heroes of the recycling center; From the people who pick up the garbage, the people who sort it, the guys who help when people drop it off, the administration, the board, everybody deserves some kudos for the job that they're doing,"  says Deirdre Sinnott, John J. And Wilma B. Sinnott Conservation Award presenter.

The Conservation Award was established in partnership with the Utica Zoological Society.
