An area church is making an effort to keep people warm during the winter months and holiday season.

St. Margaret's Food Pantry at Grace Church in Utica is collecting items like hats and mittens for those who come to the food pantry and are in need.

It started with a mitten tree at the church, and now it's spread to the community to donate any new or gently used winter clothing items.

"Especially at this time of the year, the Christmas years, it's about giving more so than receiving, and we learn that as children that's what is important to us and also starting out with the church we wanted them to be aware that these are the missions we have at Grace Church," said Parish Administrator, Cheryl Rossi-Walczak.

Those interested in donating items can drop them off at the Grace Church on Elizabeth Street.

You can call 315-733-7575 for more information.
