Despite the name, Clinton resident, Megan Burdick woke up headache free for her first ever Hangover Run in Barneveld.

"I have head gear, I have gloves. I got my pedometer from my mom for Christmas so I'm all excited," she said.

While some were recovering on the course from last night's hangovers, Megan was starting her New Year's resolution off right.

"I just moved back from Chicago and we're in such a beautiful part of the country for running. I thought we need to get on this early and stick with it all year," she said.

The Hangover Run is designed as a 10k and also has a 5k, which is the route Megan and her neighbor and friend, Marie Boucek decided to take as first timers.

"One of our neighbors who is a big runner let us know about the Hangover Run and recruited us to come along with him," said Boucek.

Along with first time runners, there are also those who make the Hangover Run a yearly tradition.

For returning runner, Nicole Martin, there's something different about this year.

"This is probably one of my first years running the run without a hangover," she said.

And hangover or not, there's something unique about the run that keeps people coming back.

"It's more fun. It's more of af un run. There's people who are serious, we used to be serious, but now we just run to start the year out right," said runner, John Lesher.
