Some small businesses in Herkimer County have the opportunity to get a little financial help to keep business going.
As part of the Regional Economic Development Council Grants, $50,000 is going to the Herkimer county Industrial Development Agency.
Sen. James Seward says the money is for the small business revolving loan fund in Herkimer county.
With so many small businesses in the county, Mr. Seward says having this money will continue to give mom and pop shops opportunities.
The grants and loans are given to various businesses in amounts of around $2,000.
"For a small business, that can mean the difference between moving forward with an initiative to further grow their business, or not happening at all and that's why as we work to improve our economy locally and throughout New York State, we've got to zoom in on the small business community," said Sen. Seward.
