For anyone up for the challenge, The American Heart Association is hosting the "21-day Sodium Swam Challenge."
Experts say too much salt can increase your risk for heart disease.
To help during the challenge, the organization is posting tips and recipes on it's Facebook page to stay healthy.
The President of the American Heart Association says the challenge can help reduce your salt sensitivity in the long run.
"Someone who's been following a low salt diet is more sensitive to salt. So, if you go three weeks reducing your sodium intake, at the end of three weeks you may find that dish at that restaurant that you loved is too salty because you have reset your salt "sensimeter"," said Dr. Frank Dubeck.
Dr. Dubeck says he understands that buying high salted foods, like canned soup, is inexpensive, but he says the long-term health effects makes it all worth it.
