The American Heart Association has declared February 1st National Wear Red Day.

It's the 10th anniversary of acknowledging this day.

The purpose to get people to wear red is to educate women about heart disease.

A red breakfast in the morning kicked things off.

"Women still today don't recognize their own risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Heart disease is the number one killer of women and more than 90% of women have some type of heart disease warning sign," said Chairperson for the Go Red Luncheon, Denise Flihan.

Along with raising awareness, there were speakers at the breakfast sharing stories.
