Many of us may take this for granted, but not all of us can afford to sleep on a bed. But, multiple agencies in our community are looking to change that.

Today, 140 TEMPUR-PEDIC mattresses were given to area non-profit organizations, like AIDS Community Resources and Utica Catholic Charities.

The donations are a way to also address the bed bug infestation in Oneida County.

"We had the bed bug problem crop up in 2009 that hasn't left us. Plus the poverty rate in our areas is very high. We have discovered in our own deliveries here that a lot of children and people sleep on floors. They don't have mattresses to sleep on," said Charlie Sweet, the Executive Director of Compassion Coalition.

The donations were made possible through Compassion Coaltion, Catholic Charities and a grant from the Mele Foundation.
