The Utica City School District held their first public
workshop tonight. The 2013-2014 proposed budget will adhere to the 2 percent tax cap. But the budget does
project 88 cuts with 54 of those being teachers. Over the
past two years the school district has cut nearly 250 positions. Superintendent
Bruce Karam announced tonight that the district is likely to lose over
5-hundred thousand more dollars due to the latest government cutbacks. The
school board will vote on the budget may
21st.
