As the rain comes down Central New York is preparing for potential flooding.  In the Village of Herkimer, the Department of Public Works started working as soon as the rain did, trying to minimize flooding.  Street Superintendent for the Village of Herkimer Peter Marci says they have been monitoring streams in the village and making sure pipes are clear of debris.  He says they have sandbags ready for residents who might need to block their homes off from water.  He says the department is ready to help if flooding on private property occurs.

Residents of Frankfort who just dealt with a lot of flooding know what could be coming.  And one resident says even though the state comes to help prevent the floods, it doesn't always keep the waters from overflowing, saying that as much as they clean out the streams, they always fill back up at one time or another.

Macri reminds residents not to drive through flood waters in the street.  If you experience flooding on your property, be sure to contact the local police.
