One Central New York Family is making a sizable donation to the Utica Rescue Mission. How did they raise the funds? Well, the Marley family raised funds for the $8000 donation from the annual Patrick G. Marley Memorial golf tournament. The tournament was held the previous two Augusts in memory of Patrick who died in a swimming accident in 2009.
Patrick was a resident of the Parker house and worked with the Missions food service staff. He is being remembered as an athlete for his participation in softball and love for hitting the links for a round of golf whenever he could.
Revered Bill Dodge explains how the $8000 donation will help the Rescue Mission. ""It will be split as a scholarship for men leaving our program and pursuing careers probably in food service. Secondly it will be used for exercise equipment and exercise training like the city gym and it will also be used for our emergency food needs. All of which relate to Patrick." The Marley family said in a statement through the Rescue Mission, "They saved Patrick's life."
