Anthony Brindisi to Take 116th District Seat in State Assembly

Updated: September 14, 2011

Now that Greg Johnson has officially conceded, Anthony Brindisi is taking the title as New York State Assemblyman-elect of the 116th district. The seat has been occupied for nearly 20 years by the RoAnn Destito.  But now, the area is in for a change.  Brindisi has made it clear in the past that he will continue to build upon the good work Destito has done for the district, and he's ready to start right now.

"I want to start talking to local leaders and working with them so we can start to tackle the important issues in the Mohawk Valley," Brindisi says, " I ran on a platform of jobs, and we need to do everything in our power to start bringing some jobs in and start making New York State a more business friendly state."

Being new to the Albany scene, he says he has a plan for how he'll create that change.  "You have to be able to work together with others," he says. "You have to stand up and let your voice be heard."  Brindisi says he has been able to bring consensus to the Utica School Board and hopes that he can do the same in the New York State Assembly.
