Something new is brewing at the FX Matt Brewery on Varick Street.
But, it's not your typical India Pale Ale. The new brew is called Wet Hop IPA. For those of who don't know what a hop is, it's the main ingredient to beer.
The FX Matt Brewery will soon be introducing their new drink called the Wet Hop IPA.
But, why is this brew so different than others?
"We picked it through the hurricane, so it makes it that much more better. We had a wonderful time," said a group of volunteers.
On August 28th, as Hurrican Irene was making its way up the east coast, the FX Matt Brewery and Wrobel Farms had to quickly pick their hops, and thanks to the volunteers, they got the job done.
"To stick that out and do whatever it took in the midst of a storm that was enough to keep anybody in their sane minds home for the day, they dedicated so much... I would dedicate this beer to them," explains Wrobel Farm owner, Jim Wrobel.
Volunteer Matt Alcott says despite the weather, it was a good time.
"We were in the shelter of the barn. It was breezy and the hops were wet, but it was still a lot of fun," said Alcott.
CEO of FX Matt Brewery says this beer is so special because it's their first locally grown ingredient used in a beer.
"It's a much more complex taste. So, it's a very interesting beer... I think people will enjoy it," says Matt.
Mr. Matt says the beer is a limited edition and people can go to certain bars like the Green Onion on Genesee Street to get a taste.
