Update: Arrest Made in Calvary Cemetery Shooting
Last week we reported about a shooting at Calvary Cemetery on Oneida street. Utica Police say they responded to hearing reported shots fired. The night of the shooting, police say they found assault rifles in a car near the cemetery. They also found a deer that has been shot and it has since died. After further investigation and questioning police say they have made one arrest. Hieu Nguyen of Hastings, New York has been arrested and charged on four accounts. He's been charged with hunting out of season, possession of a loaded gun in a car, in addition to two other charges. Sgt. Steve Hauck of the Utica Police Department says the department's main concern with this case is the safety of the nearby residents. "These high powered rifles have the ability to travel long distances," he says, "A misfire could easily enter a home and kill someone." Sgt.
