The death of Francis Nelson of Little Falls is now considered a homicide.

Nelson was found dead near his vehicle on Tuesday morning.

As New York State Police investigate the crime, family and friends of Francis Nelson are mourning the loss.

Long time family friend, Scott Manley was Mr. Nelson's next door neighbor.

He had nothing but wonderful memories to share about Francis Nelson Wednesday afternoon.

Manley spoke about his pastimes, and even about the nickname he had for Mr. Nelson.

"To be honest with you, I don't know where "Mick" came from. I've always just known him as Mick. Actually, when we were little we used to call him "Uncle Mick," that's how close we were," said Manley.

Manley called Francis Nelson "Mick" for as long as he could remember.

He described "Mick" as a quiet person, but one who would do anything for anyone.

"It doesn't make sense how this could have happened," said Manley.

State Police are investigating the suspicious death, and now have classified it as a homicide.

When Scott heard the news Tuesday morning, he didn't know what to think.

"He was just Mick, he was just a good guy," said Manley.

Although Francis is no longer here, Scott looks back on "Mick's" favorite pastime, fishing.

Manley said that fishing was his life and something he loved. He says he was always going fishing and talking about it with his friends.

Nelson's daughter, Christina says her father would go to fishing tournaments every other weekend and recently just came back a winner from one.

She says her dad was one with a big heart.

"Mick" was someone that Scott Manley knew almost his entire life. He says Nelson was a great friend to his family.

Manley says Francis Nelson will certainly be missed in the neighborhood as well as throughout the community.
