But the warriors are writing a different script; in fact they are defying that very unwritten rule by relying on consistency from the top down. "Consistency would be a good word in the program; from a coaching staff standpoint our coaches are very consistent." Over the years that formula has given Whitesboro a winning tradition. This year injuries threated to plague the perfect season but Coach Schoen approaches the challenge with the right philosophy. "We've got some kids that love to play football, I'm blessed with kids who enjoy the game. And our philosophy is too that we're not going to dwell on things we can't do, things we can control, like somebody being injured or being out for a couple weeks, we're going to solve problems not talk about them." There's no lack of leadership on the warriors team and they know how to approach each week of practice to ultimately meet there goal. "We go back to film and you look at the things you do wrong instead of right is what you do now because being six and 'O' you know what you do well, you have to start to pick out the little things to be a great team you have to start picking out, you're not blocking right on this play or you're doing this wrong you have to start doing that, so we can start to play at the next level and maybe win a state championship." In sports experience is key, but Whitesboro knows why experience is a crucial component to success. "Just to have the experience of going there and see the opponents, see the size of the opponents and how they play is big, it's a lot of experience because when you go out there, your already for what they're going to come at your with, you're not shocked or surprised about the size, the speed and the difference of play, you'll already know what's going to come so you're ready to play." Coach Schoen has been around the game long enough to know it's up to the players to get to where they want to be. "This team can go as far as they want to go because they have that kind of talent; the kids decide what they want and how much they're willing to work to get it."             So far Whitesboro has been willing to put the work in to the tune of an undefeated season. The warriors are preparing to face their rival, New Hartford, on a short week because Coach Schoen is being inducted into the Ithaca College Sports Hall of Fame.
