Political candidates ranging from those running for Utica Mayor to City Council were out tonight to answer concerned community members questions. The Utica-Oneida Chapter of the NAACP hosted the forum at the Loretto Center.  Candidates introduced themselves, presented their political platform, then the floor opened for community questions.  The forum was moderated by the NAACP.  One of the issues addressed was one resident's concerns with racial profiling in the city. In response, Utica Mayoral Candidate Robert Palmieri said, "You are our customers, and a customer should not have a color, you do not have a gender."
One community member spoke of her concerns about job opportunities in the area, to which many candidates had responses.  Ed Bucciero, runnning for Utica City Councilman at Large, said, "The economic power that you have is enormous.  I think you need to realize that and you need to band together and you need to build your own businesses."
The next Candidate Forum is set to take place on Tuesday, October 18th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at The Thomas Lindsey Public Safety Center on James Street in Utica.  The 5th District Common Council Candidates and 25th District County Legislator Candidates are set to be present. The forum is free and open to the public.
