It's been said that senior leadership is a key component to any championship run. In the world of junior college athletics there are no seniors, just underclassman. But when your team has been there before, like the Lady Hawks have, it builds experience. "Well I have seven girls who started on last year's team, that are playing tomorrow that played in a regional final. Last year we lost in overtime to the number two team in the country in the regional final. So we have a lot of girls who have been there before, they know the intensity that regional games are different than regular season games. So hopefully we'll step it up and play well." The Lady Hawks have amassed a fourteen and three record this season so it's difficult to say this team needs improvement but the hawk are not taking any opponent lightly. "We just need to build up our confidence, I'm pretty sure everyone's pumped about this game but communication, passing the ball to feet, doing little chips over the defense, stuff like that will really help us." There comes a point in every season that can define what that team will ultimately be, and for the Lady Hawks it came during a two game skid. "Obviously we have a really good record were 14 and 3 and we had some rough loses right in the middle of our season and I think that really helped us grow a lot and it taught us a lot about our team and a lot about what we need to work on and it's going to help us now in the end of the season." Mohawk Valley will face Tompkins County tomorrow, a team they previously beat four to one, so will coach senior change his approach? "Well we won four to one, I really don't want to do anything differently, I'd like it to be the same, but it was a very tough, it was a lot closer than the score."
