Cayo Industrial Brings the Screams this Halloween

If you're looking for something unique to do this Halloween weekend, you may want to stop by one of the Broad Street abandoned warehouses in Utica.

            811 Broad Street is home to Cayo industrial's horror attraction during the month of October.

Cayo industrial started in 2003, and owner/operator Joshua Reale says it's not your typical haunted attraction.  When he decided to start Cayo, he says he didn't take inspiration from other haunted houses, but from ideas he had stirring in his own mind, and combined it with his film, theater, and graphic design skills.  After setting up the attraction in Little Falls and Herkimer in past years, he brought it to Utica after finding this abandoned warehouse.  Over the years he's developed three attractions - bio war, bio tech, and revelation. They all explore different concepts -- not your typical zombie or witch inspired attractions.

            Reale says revelation is the newest addition, and so far it's received a lot of positive feedback.

"It's kind of a collaboration of ideas of why people think the world's going to end," he says, "from a human nature standpoint to a religious perspective."

            Reale says he starts thinking about the concepts behind the attraction in January and then begins production and building in March or April. While he conceives the ideas on his own, he says it takes about thirty people to make it all happen, between actors and those who help with the heavy lifting.
