Friday is a day to honor our veterans.

But Frankfort-Schuyler had a celebration one day early.

Veteran Kenneth Rowland's war metals mean the world to him. He shares and explains with children what each award stands for.

"Kids don't really know what veterans do in the war and I go around to different schools talking about it," said Rowland.

On Thursday, students celebrated the heroes who fought for their country.

Congressman Richard Hanna wanted to raise awareness to the children there on what these veterans did for The United States.

"It's important that these young people get a sense of what if means to live in the country that they live in," said Hanna.

World War Two veteran, Joseph Diliberto has been coming to celebrations like this for years and enjoys seeing the children learn about their veterans.

"I'm proud, but I don't feel like I'm the hero, but that's what they call us," said Rowland.

But, a hero is what these veterans are to the children at Frankfort-Schuyler.

"We live in the greatest country in the world and they need to understand not to take that for granted," said Hanna.
