Herkimer Generals Basketball

It's been 364 days since the Herkimer Generals faced the Jefferson Cannoneers. Tonight the two schools met for a region three match up. The Generals enter this season with a clean slate and plenty of ambition after a five and twenty-one showing last year. The new year brought new offense putting up seventy against finger lakes. The only problem being they gave up eighty five on defense. "Tonight we did alot better ya know, gave up significantly less, it's really going to depend on, ya know were going to score our points, we've got to learn how to play defense." Tonight the Lady Generals certainly made a statement but still have work to do given the season is early. "I think we still need to improve on looking for our forwards in the paint more and our defense we'll always have to work on but I think it's getting a lot better already." It can often be difficult for freshman to enter the college game on the road but thankfully this young Herkimer squad plays twelve of the first fifteen up on the hill and tonight was game one. "Our first home game winning was big, that was big for us from last year coming into this year, we have a very talented team and we have so much potential, so much potential and time will only tell." Time is certainly on the Lady Generals side as they have five days to prepare for an early season rematch with Finger Lakers.
