National Adoption Day: A Joyous Day for Several Central New Yorkers.

Nearly 80 children were officially welcomed into their new families today.  In honor of tomorrow being National Adoption Day, Onondaga County OnCenter hosted a ceremony in honor of adopted children and their families, as area judges officiated the adoptions.

The day was so joyous and exciting for many families as what they all had waited for for so long finally became a reality. "I'm on cloud nine I never thought this day would happen," said Linda Kilgore, "we lost our oldest son and Keith and I kind of thought our lives were over at that point.  We started taking in single soldiers and that opened our lives to how much love we still had to give. We became foster parents and within days of meeting Tom we knew he was meant for us."

Nancy Fox-Moore was here adopting her wife's seven year old triplets, while the Meakers welcomed 2-year-old Emily into their family today, after adopting her older sister Taylor a little while ago.

All families Eyewitness News spoke with emphasized how important it is to consider adoption.  "The world biological is just what it is. A word," said Kevin Meaker. 

"There are so many kids who are in foster care they're up for adoption for no reason of their own," said Keith Kilgore, "and all they need is good families to love them and take them in."
