Oneida Nation gives $5 million in Holiday bonuses

A major announcement was made by The Oneida Indian Nation that will have its employees seeing extra cash in their wallets this holiday season.

The Oneida Nation announced that its 4,500 employees would receive a total of five million dollars in holiday bonuses this season.

With this bonus, CEO of Turning Stone, Ray Halbritter encourages the employees to spend some extra cash on holiday shopping.

"It's a great opportunity because it's a way to recognize their contribution and the fact that we couldn't have built what we did here by ourselves," said Halbritter.

Bernard Womack, who has only been a Turning Stone employee for six months will be able to check off more of his Christmas list this year.

"It's right around the holiday season so everybody has got Christmas lists. This is just exciting," said Womack.

Womack already has a good idea of what he wants to use his extra spending money on.

"I'll probably buy an iPhone, or some kind of technology to get everybody up to speed on what's going on from a technology standpoint," he said.

But, he doesn't just see it as a benefit for himself.

"This is awesome for the employees. It's awesome for the community here. More money will be pumped in the economy," said Womack.

"It's a very tough time, a lot of people are suffering right now. So, to be in an organization this supportive of the employees is just wonderful," said Bob Getterman, another Turning Stone employee.

Like Bernard Womack, Bob Getterman is new to Turning Stone and appreciates what his company has done for him.

"It's exciting. It's great to start the holiday season. I feel very fortunate," he said.
