Thanksgiving Day means many things to many people and at the rescue mission, they are going the extra mile to serve the community. During a season of giving, some people spent their holiday giving back. The rescue mission in Utica was packed with volunteers eager to help others. "A lot of people are around their dinner tables tonight eating their meals, a lot of people forget about there's a plethora of people that don't get this opportunity, that don't have the family that we do. The rescue mission's great thanksgiving banquet gives volunteers the opportunity spread the meaning of family. "Today is especially important because this is the time we spend with our families and friends and some people don't have that, so we have to share our love and joy with them." Some volunteer their time driving meals to those who can't attend the great thanksgiving banquet. The rescue mission expects to deliver six hundred meals today.
"I'm delivering meals for the Rescue Mission and my understanding is there doing something like 1200 meals today, I was really looking forward to helping because I've never done it before." Reverend Bill Dodge aims to make thanksgiving special for everyone and he is always thankful for the support the community gives. "Gratitude is something we feel and the folks that come here also sense some gratitude for the services they get all year long, but what's really great is when we see the volunteers come and they get transformed because they get blessed when they help others as well."
