Jerry Schmidt of Bouckville has been charged with 41 counts of animal cruelty.

Schmidt was arraigned in the town of Bridgewater court Monday night.

He has been the subject of an investigation by the ASPCA for several months.

Schmidt is denying the charges made against him.

He is being charged with 21 counts of failure to provide proper sustenance for 21 horses and 20 counts for failing to provide blood test results to transport horses.

All of these charges are unclassified misdemeanors.

Mr. Schmidt declined to go on camera, but tells Eyewitness News that both vets who examined the animals said there was no mistreatment to the animals.

He does not have an attorney but says he plans to get one.

Right now, no future court date has been set.
