Final meeting on possible four district merger

Tuesday night was the last planned meeting before voting on the possible four district merger with Frankfort-Schuyler, Mohawk, Ilion, and Herkimer School Districts.

The Superintendent of Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District says this is an emotional topic for many people, and he wants to make sure all questions are answered.

There were mixed feelings tonight at the meeting with some parents on the fence about which way to vote.

One parent tells Eyewitness News that she feels her questions aren't being answered.

She says she isn't angry, but just wants to know what will be best for her children.

"It's maybe. Everything is just maybe, maybe, maybe, and it comes down to, is the state going to give us the money or not. I think there's a lot of opportunities out there, but I don't think my children are going to get to see those opportunities the way the meetings have been going," said parent, Margaret Manzo.

The Superintendent says not only was this meeting a way to get questions answered, but it was also a good opportunity to hear what other people were saying about the possible merger.

On January 10, each of the district boards will vote on a resolution.

If that resolution passes, it will then be up to the voters to decide the fate of the merger on January 19.
