Deputy Reveals New Details in Christian Patterson Case

Shocking details came out today in the Christian Patterson trial.  The trial for the man charged with killing Deputy Kurt Wyman continued with emotional testimony.

Deputy Carey Phair took the stand, revealing that a gun malfunction could have prevented the death of his colleague.  He was called to the scene that night for reinforcement.

Phair told the defense that while Patterson never directly said he would harm anyone, he recounts these alarming words from Patterson, "Somehow or another they tried to get him to put the gun down again and come out the thing that came out was 'I have four in my gun and five in my pocket let's give my neighbors a show.'"

As the standoff continued Patterson went to reach for a jacket, at which point officials fired non-lethal weapons at him, seeing that movement as an opportunity to separate Patterson from his gun.

Phair describes seeing Patterson point his gun, after being stuck himself, at Deputy Wyman. Phair tried to fire his gun, but it misfired twice--an extremely difficult moment for him to talk about, as he suggested those bullets could've saved his colleague.

The trial is set to continue tomorrow.
