A structure fire on the Oneida Nation property is being declared as an arson by police.

Fire crews responded to a structure fire at a vacant house on Patrick Road around 2:20 a.m. A passerby noticed the fire and called police.

Thanks to technology, the investigation led police to a security camera at a nearby SavOn convenience store that captured a photo of one of the suspects.  The suspect reportedly stopped in to ask for directions to East Syracuse.

A witness told police the man tried forcing his way into the vacant house to set it on fire. Then, the man reportedly got into a vehicle with three to four other white males.  A camera at Turning Stone Resort Casino also captured an image of the same individual on an escalator.

Anyone with information regarding the fire can call Oneida Indian Nation Police Department at (315) 829-8100 or the Oneida County Sheriff's Department at (315) 736-0141.

All calls will be kept confidential.
