DNA tracing led police to locate and arrest a Utica burglar, following a five month investigation.

22-year-old Nermin Velic is accused of breaking into a home back in September 2011. Velic reportedly stole a computer and jewelry worth almost $7,000.

The New Hartford Police found possible DNA at the scene of the crime. They swabbed the DNA and sent it to New York State Forensic Investigation Center in Albany.

Police received confirmation of a positive ID from the DNA on scene that matched Velic. Velic was charged with Burglary and Grand Larceny.

He was arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Court and sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail.
