State aid to arrive early for City of Utica

The City of Utica is thanking Albany for the state aid payment that is on its way early this year. Usually arriving in late March, over $10 million in state aid payment is now on its way.

Mayor Robert Palmieri thanked Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi personally saying, "if not for their strong advocacy on this and so many other financial issues, we would have little chance of saving our city."

Palmieri stresses that this aid is Utica's normal amount given by the state and is not a loan or special assistance.

Both Brindisi and Griffo are pleased on the speediness of Albany's response to the funding deficiencies.

Senator Griffo said the aid is a very important tool for the City of Utica in finalizing this year's budget.  Assemblyman Brindisi says, "In many ways, city government survives day-to-day.  This funding will help Utica pay for some current necessities."
