For the young, and the young at heart, Memorial Day is a day to celebrate those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

"Everything that we have in this country is because of the veteran, as most people well know, so I'm very proud of that fact," said Navy Veteran, Frank Williams.

On Monday night, hundreds gathered for the annual New Hartford Memorial Day Parade.

With some returning, and some there for the first time.

"Memorial Day is a great celebration for the people who have served in the military and given their life for us," said first time parade goer, Frank DuRoss.

Navy Veteran, Frank Williams has marched down Genesee Street for the last nine years, and it's a proud moment that he says is sometimes difficult to put into words.

"What it means to the veteran, to finally be recognized for what they do, we've always known that, but it's so gratifying, it's hard to explain," said Williams.

For first timer Frank DuRoss, he says heading out to New Hartford for the parade just might become a new yearly thing.

"I think we're going to make this a tradition now, we got a place where we're going to stay, and every year we're going to be in the same location, so we'll get to see the people on a yearly basis," said DuRoss.
