Over 50 people came out to the Utica State Building on Genesee Street today to protest hydrofracking this afternoon.
People were yelling 'Say no Joe,' urging Senator Joe Griffo to help put an end to hydrofracking.
"People are getting sick from fracking all across the country and our governor, the DEC, our New York Senator is ignoring that fact," says protestor Carleton Corey.
"We would like to see a complete ban on fracking and hydrofracking, that is horizontal hydrofracking in New York state," says protestor Orin Domenico.
Protestors say the more people learn about fracking, the more they oppose it. Proponents of hydrofracking say it will create jobs and provide an alternative source of energy.
