If you're not traveling this 4th of July - not to worry - there's fun happening right in your backyard.

The city of Utica is holding a celebration Wednesday afternoon from 3pm to 10pm at Frederick T. Proctor P ark. There will be entertainment, children's events, food, and of course fireworks. One volunteer hopes that the community will take advantage of the free and fun event.

"It shows them that the city is here to put on a day like this. If you can look at a park and see family and children having fun, throwing frisbees, throwing the football, that's the greatest thing ever to see. And it's not gonna cost a lot, there will be free entertainment, and there is no cost to them," says Trina Gigliotto, Utica Volunteer.

Led by Mayor Palmieri - the 4th of July parade will start at 6pm on Culver Avenue. Fireworks will start at 9:30pm. And for adults, there will be a beer garden serving saranac beer.

Free parking is set up at the Charlestown Parking lot of Bleeker Street. Centro Bus will be providing a free shuttle service from Charlestown to Proctor Park every 15 minutes starting at 3pm until after the Fireworks.
