The Center for Family Life and Recovery received a grant worth over $6,000 dollars. The Mental Health Association of New York State is providing the funds to promote suicide prevention initiatives in Oneida County.
The CEO says she hopes community members will take advantage of the programs because no one should struggle in silence.
"With suicide, just talking about that it does happen to people, and other ones are aware of it, they can talk more. And when there's more education, there's more knowledge and people do something about it and they go get the help that they need - and ultimately that's the big part of it, you don't have to struggle in silence," says Cassandra Sheets, CEO The Center for Family Life and Recovery .
Some of the initiatives will include wellness training, extensive awareness campaigns, and further educating the community about the resources available to them.
