The oldest collapsible seats in the country are officially going into retirement. For over fifty years the Utica Memorial Auditorium housed the very first collapsible seats. Today The Aud removed those seats to install new state of the art seating. This is just one step of a three stage process in revamping the aud.
General Manger of the Aud Will Berkheiser says, "It's going to have an entire different look people are going to notice it and not only the people that come in the front door but also the people that come in the back door that get those people in the front door. So we're all excited about it, I think it's going to help and get more shows in The Auditorium."
The Aud has also added all new lighting today as part of phase one. Phase two will include a shiny new facade, that's reportedly graffiti resistant.
