Families were able to get a free inspection today by the New Hartford Police to make sure their car seats were properly installed in their cars.
The inspection took place at the Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare campus. And if the child car seat was found to be unsafe, police were able to provide a new child car seat.
"The object of the program is to teach individuals on how to properly install a child passenger seat. A lot of times they have to take the seat of the car to swap vehicles if they have issues or what not. We want to make sure that they are properly skilled in it on how to properly install a safety seat if the situation arises," said Shane Yoxall, a patrolman of the New Hartford Police Department.
The car seats were provided for free through a New York State grant.
