Statewide, nearly 600 businesses with flood-related damage as a result of Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee received nearly $8 million dollars in assistance through the "Business Flood Recovery Grant Program."
Jay-K Lumber in New Hartford had over $600,000 dollars in losses. They were selected to receive funds and the president says they are thankful.
"Basically we lost our whole cabinet store. We had to relocate the whole cabinet showroom down to our main store here at Jay-K. We spent a significant amount of dollars to do that so we're hoping to use that grant to pay for some of the remodeling and repair at the main store," says Dean Kelly, President Jay-K Lumber New Hartford.
Jay-K Lumber says they don't yet know how much funding they will be receiving. The maximum grant is $20,000 dollars and businesses will be notified in early August.
