You never know what you might find at garage sale. But Herkimer residents may see fewer garage sales after a village board meeting. Trustees have changed the rules including the length of time each day a sale can operate. The number of garage sales a person can have in a year has been reduced from five to three. And, those looking to hold a garage sale - better get a permit from the village office. They cost five dollars. Some area residents aren't pleased with the new amendment.
Michael Sweet of Herkimer says, "Because people are just trying to get rid of stuff and their just trying to make extra money off."
Doris Flannagan of Herkimer says, "I think it would be great if they drop the prices down on it so more people could get out to the garage sales." Residents holding garage sales cannot run the sale more than three consecutive days.
