Ask yourself one question, what did I do this summer? Two college students wanted this summer to be a memorable one. Mike and Nate from Florida Atlantic University set out to ride their bicycles fifty miles a day for fifty days and raise fifty thousand dollars for Wounded Warriors.
Nate says, "My idea, I pitched it to Mike, in one conversation over a bible study in Einstein Bagels it led to this trip here."
While most college students spend their summers relaxing and unwinding, Mike and Nate decided to give back for a good cause.
Mike says, "This is our summer; we're just spending our summer seeing America. Isn't that what a lot of kids dreams are?" Nate added, "Every American solider that has risked their life and come back with missing limbs is more than worth it for just our summer to raise money for them."
Mike and Nate have traveled from the Florida Keys all the way to New York where they plan on ending trip in Niagara Falls. Along their twenty-five hundred mile adventure they've seen an America they could only dream about.
Nate says, "America has a heart that's alive and it takes care of its citizens and its soldiers." Mike added, "The heart of man or America hasn't changed, it's always been giving and cordial and sharing and kind."
The cycling duo is entering the final leg of their trek and along the way they started planning next year's trip.
Mike says, "We've been friends for four years now, it feels like forever but that's probably the 45 days on the road that we've spent together. We don't cycle every day, I plan on doing it now."
Nate says, I plan on.. doing another bike trip like this next year, a different route maybe for the same charity or a different one. Not sure what's ahead but we know it's going to be more like this."
