Thousands of people turned out to voice their opinions tonight. And ultimately the people decided to stop the rechartering.
Barbara Hoffman says, "I just think it's been a hot topic and I think there's pro's on both sides. I think they both have value, but it's all up to you what you feel so we're here today to do our job."
Voters are deciding if the library will change from a town library to a school district library. As a result it would increase taxes and increase the libraries budget and this debate seems to be split down the middle.
Jane Imobersteg says, "I'm really against it because I just think that a simpler version would be to eliminate a few hours."
Terry Hoffman says, "There all lumped into one so to speak, to be quite honest with you I voted for it to pass simply because there are no other options."
David Murphy says, "I think the library would be a definite asset to them and I think it would result in more progress. I know the tax would go up a bit, I don't think it would go up too much but I think in the long run its going to be beneficial"
Some residents came out to vote because they feel the library is an important part of the community.
Dick Timpano says, "It's a very difficult situation, the library is needed because its part of the community, it's a natural resource and I know by the people I see in the parking lot this evening this is going to go right down to the bitter end."
