There are two significant Primary races being decided Thursday. The Senate seat for the new 51st District and the Assembly seat for the new 101st District.

But, not everyone in the tri-county area will be voting.  Thursday's primary election will be held in portions of Oneida, Herkimer and Otsego Counties. But, you only can vote in the state Primary if you are a registered Republican or Conservative and if you live within the new 51st District and 101st District.

The GOP race in the 101st Assembly District is between incumbent Claudia Tenney who currently holds the 115th Assembly seat. She will also be on the Conservative ballot.

Her opponent is Brian Maher of Orange County who currently is the Mayor of the Village of Walden.

Oneida County Board of Election GOP Commissioner Pamela Mandryck says it should be a decent voter turnout tomorrow.

"I think that Claudia's race in the 101st will be significant in that its New Hartford and Paris. Claudia is the incumbent and is from Oneida County so I think you will see a solid turnout over there," said Mandryck.

The new 101st also encompasses parts of Herkimer, Otsego, Orange, Delaware, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties.

Another significant race is new 51st District Senate seat. Incumbent James Seward will be running against James Blake.

The 51st District represents parts of Herkimer, Otsego, Cortland, Schoharie, Ulster, Delaware, Cayuga, Chenango, and Tompkins.

The Otsego County Board of Elections wants to remind voters that all voters in the county can vote in the 51st District race. But, only a handful of towns such as Springfield, Middlefield, Westford and Maryland will be voting for the 101st seat.

After Thursday's GOP state and local Primaries, all registered voters will vote in the general election on November 6th.

If you have questions about the elections you are urged to contact your area Board of Elections.
