A new plaque is now mounted at the main law enforcement building in memory of the fallen Sheriff's Deputy Kurt Wyman.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office has also been renamed in honor of the late officer. Deputy Wyman was shot and killed last June during a standoff in the town of Augusta.
Sheriff Robert Maciol presented Wyman's widow, Lauren with various awards to commemorate her husband.
"It's our obligation to ensure that everyone else in the future generations to come never forget Deputy Kurt B. Wyman and the sacrifices that he made. He was a great law enforcement officer, a great marine, a great dad, great son and great grandson and we certainly want to make sure his memory is never forgotten," said Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.
Deputy Wyman is the first officer killed in the line of duty since the inception of the Sheriff's Office in 1798.
