Area veterans were invited to the 6th Annual Central New York Veterans Expo this afternoon at SunyIT.
When veterans return from combat, some say making the transition back into society can be tough. The expo tries to make this transition a little bit easier by connecting vets and their families with area resources and providers.
"When I came home from Afghanistan in 2006, it felt kind of weird, strange; it took awhile to adjust. A lot of vets don't make that transition very well, so this is one way to help with that transition. There's a lot of places that want to hire vets, all kinds of groups that would just like to connect to veterans and families and are well equipped to do that," says Ward Halverson, combat veteran.
Coordinators say more than 90 area and regional agencies set up tables at the service fair. And special services for homeless veterans were also available.
