Oneida County Sheriff's Office conducting internal investigation regarding escaped inmate

Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol says he's launching an internal investigation to find out how an inmate escaped from the county correctional facility.
25-year-old John Santoro took off from a recreation area at the facility yesterday afternoon. He was captured within minutes. Santoro is charged with escape in the 1st degree.
He was in the jail because he's also facing other charges for allegedly raping and holding a woman captive.
