A fire in Oriskany today has displaced two residents for at least the night. The fire first broke out just before 2 P.M. this afternoon at 113 Oklahoma Avenue. Officials say two people were inside the home when the fire broke out. One resident needed oxygen assistance, but no one was seriously injured. When crews arrived the porch was fully engulfed. They were able to put out the fire in forty minutes. One eyewitness says smoke from the house caught his attention.
Jary France says, "Well I was out on the porch and I seen a lot of smoke and I didn't realize it was the apartment I used to live in and all of a sudden my Daughter comes out and says Dad that's where you used to live. So, I came down here and man all the smoke and all of sudden within minutes the fire department was here, they were in there fighting it, they were just fantastic."
The fire is still under investigation but authorities say an electrical problem could be the cause.
