Nearly 600 elementary students came out to Hamilton College this morning
for a performing arts treat. Elementary students watched excerpts from
the Temptation of the Muses performed by Nai-Ni Chen's Dance
Company with the Ahn Trio. The Hamilton College arts director says she
hopes bringing a live performance will inspire younger students to make
dance a part of their lives.
"If you're exposed to the arts at a young age, then you have an lifelong appreciation for the arts. And it's especially important with arts funding being cut, it's really great that they can see a live performance and learn a little bit about what's going on, on the stage," says Michelle Reiser-Memmer, Hamilton College Performing Arts Director.
The modern dance performance for the students was made possible through the Mohawk Valley Dance Partnership. Established, the partnership combines the talents and resources of community partners Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute and Hamilton College.
The public performance will be held tomorrow night at 8pm in Wellin Hall at Hamilton College.
